What part of your day do you dread the most? “Going through airport security.” If you had to change jobs tomorrow, what would you do? “Possibly kill myself. What quality or talent do you envy in others? “People who are hopeful in love.” Yeah, he’s the first punk-rock musician, in my opinion.” Since Beethoven, there has never been anybody who has come close to that. When you listen to the Fifth Symphony, there’s a certain magic behind it. He was able to tap into his creative abilities, despite not being able to actually hear music.
I think he’s the true meaning of what heroes are made of-going against the grain, and being ahead of his time. Who do you most admire and why? “Beethoven. I’ve played classical music since I was 5 years old.”
But I think the perfect lazy Sunday would involve no telephone, and a piano. How would you fritter away a lazy Sunday? “I don’t know what it’s like to have the time to do that. What is the one food you absolutely refuse to eat? “Mushrooms. How would you describe your default mood? “Despondent and hopeful.” With tongue-firmly-in-cheek, Von D gamely sat down to answer our FLARE Questionnaire: Look out for the 30 shades-both classic (fire engine red) and gutsy (iridescent lilac neon, matte lavender, shimmery navy)-on shelves in late July.
